The girls of 13 Elite didn’t need to go far to wrap up the year perfectly. They traveled down the 5 to compete at the USA Volleyball Summer Soiree. And compete they did, battling their way through five three-set matches to take home a gold medal and a perfect 12-0 record.

“Perfect doesn’t feel perfect,” said Head Coach Irene Chou, “But I like it like that. They battled and they battled hard. Every single one of those wins was earned and I’m incredibly proud of those girls. That’s a team that knows how to win,” finished Chou.

Through the ups and downs of the tournament, 13 Elite just wouldn’t go away. 

“With that team I knew we were never out. Those kids are fighters and it was awesome to see. They deserve every win,” chimed in Assistant Coach Samantha Hould. 

Although the girls played close to home, they competed against some of the Nation’s best competition at the elite level, including a championship win against TAVA from Kansas.

“We could talk about volleyball all day. How great their serving or the defense was, but the truth is, we just out-teamed teams. And those are the most fun teams to coach,” concluded Chou.

Congratulations on a great finish to a great year, 13 Elite! You serve as a wonderful reminder of what’s possible when teams play like a team.
