The squad goes 6-3 overall at the Show Me Junior National Qualifier to collect their bid!

14 Rosh poured on the wins in the city of fountains over this past weekend and officially earned the right to be called an Open Division team.

“We played great fundamental volleyball the entire tournament. I’ve got to be honest, you get a little worried when your team finds too much early success without being challenged. You worry that they won’t get enough experience with handling losses throughout a National Tournament, and there’s always losses at National Tournaments…but I thought we handled it pretty darn well,” said head coach Vanessa Williams-Mukai.

Speaking of early success, the girls of 14 Rosh started off the Show Me Qualifier with plenty, winning their first five matches against Alliance, HPSTL, KC Power, Asics Mavs, and A5 Mizuno respectively before losing two matches to Nebraska Premier.

“In the matches we won, our serving game was strong. I don’t think that was a coincidence at all. And we executed our game plan at a really high level, especially in the medal match against KC Power, so kudos to the girls for having the IQ and the perseverance in that match. It’s the reason we were able to qualify and the reason why I’m so proud of them today,” praised Williams-Mukai, just after beating KC Power to earn a bronze medal and an Open Division bid to Junior Nationals in Detroit, MI.

14 Roshambo will get some well-deserved rest, but not too much as they head to Las Vegas, NV to compete in the Red Rock Junior National Qualifier April 27-29.
